Upcoming Webinar: Interpreting for Victims of Crime

Vital Language Solutions LLC just opened registration for its upcoming webinar on Interpreting for Victims of Crime: An Understanding of Victims’ Characteristics, Parties Involved, and the Effects on the Interpreters’ Role and Experience that will take place on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. Central Time and greatly welcomes translators, interpreters and other special guests to join us! This event has been approved for 1.00 General CIE credit hour by the Supreme Court of Ohio.

Our featured presenter for this webinar will be Dr. Rita Pavone, the founder of Minerva Translations & Language Services and OnPoint Research and Consulting. Dr. Pavone has been an interpreter and translator for more than 20 years serving in a variety of sectors and working with multiple language pairs.

The webinar will provide an overview of sensitive topics such as victimization and re-victimization, victim precipitation, maladaptive coping and the challenging rapport-building and balance of power among the participating parties. Furthermore, some attention will be devoted to the interpreter’s temptation to embrace an advocacy call and the phenomenon of emotional dissonance, which may lead to depersonalization and burnout. Please see the enclosed flyer for more information about the webinar.

The registration fee is $35/person. To register for the webinar, please send an email to info@vitallanguages.com stating that you would like to register, and we will send you additional instructions on how to complete your registration.

Upon our receipt of your payment, you will receive a registration confirmation email that will contain a Zoom link through which you will be able to join our webinar on October 4th.

Thanks again, and we look forward to have you join us for this webinar!
